Blackman Genealogy - Marion Co., SC
Welcome to my Blackman web pages. This surname is often spelled Blackmon too.
My most recent Blackman ancestor is Lucinda Blackman (c1795-1860s) who married Alexander Lane (1787-1858) in Marion District, South Carolina ca 1810/13. Her maiden name has not been proven. It was listed as Blackman in a published history of the county but the author had a question mark next to it, so he wasn't sure either. He was a contemporary of hers, so he may certainly be correct about her being a Blackman, though there is room for doubt.
I have not been able to identify Lucinda's parents. There were several Blackman families in Marion Co., SC and they all seem to be related to one another. There were also Blackmans elsewhere in SC and several in NC.

Blackman DNA Project - Use DNA testing to break down your genealogical brick walls and find out which genetic branch of the family you are part of. Click link for details. I'm not involved in the project, but I highly recommend it. The project only has a few participants so far, they need more, especially with NC and SC roots.
