There were several men named Joseph Brown within the general area my own Joseph Brown resided. Fortunately they’ve been fairly easy to keep straight for the most part. Some were Quakers, some weren’t.

 

1.         Joseph Brown (c1740-1815) and 1) Unknown and 2) Rachel (—) of Randolph Co., NC. This is my ancestor. He is a son of Daniel Brown (c1720).

 

2.         Joseph Brown (1731-aft 1780) and Mary (—) of Rowan and Guilford Co., NC and TN.

 

3.         Joseph Brown (1749-aft 1783) and Ann Jones of Cane Creek Monthly Meeting and New Garden Monthly Meeting. Son of Thomas Brown (c1721) and Margaret Moon.

 

4.         Joseph Brown (1760-1800) and Jemima (—) of Guilford Co., NC, TN and GA. Son of Joseph Brown (1731) and Mary.

 

5.         Joseph Brown (1767-aft 1800) of Orange and Guilford Co., NC, Cane Creek Monthly Meeting and Center Monthly Meeting. Son of William Brown (1726) and Hannah Moon.

 

6.         Joseph Brown (17??-aft 1812) of New River Monthly Meeting, to Ohio 1812. Son of James Brown.
