Marvin Jenkins, age 60, of the Stecoah community of Robbinsville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov.10, 2009 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva.
A native of Graham County, he was the son of Walt and Blanche Higdon Jenkins. He was a veteran of the United State Army, proudly serving his country as a sergeant in the 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. Marvin was a dedicated Christian and a long time member of the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years, and was last employed as the Post Master of the Bryson City office.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Weston Clyde Orr.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents are his loving wife, Francinne Carpenter Jenkins; sons and their wives, Darrin and Meredith Jenkins of Robbinsville, Chris and Amy Morgan of Clyde; daughters and their husbands, Aimee and Kelly Orr of Robbinsville and Cherie and Matt White of Winston Salem; brothers and their wives, Bryan and Brenda Jenkins of Richland, S.C., Bobby and Alaina Jenkins of Atlanta, Danny and Beth Jenkins of Hendersonville, Nicki and Dori of Matthews; a sister and her husband, Charlene and Earl Medlin of Dana; seven grandchildren, Austin and Adisyn Jenkins, Justin and Lawson Orr, Alex and Carson Morgan, and Carly White. Marvin was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. We love you!
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church with Revs. Jimmy Millsaps and Dana Dockery officiating. Burial followed in the Hazie Brown Cemetery where Military Rites were conducted by Carringer-Webster VFW Post 8635 and Eller Rogers Post 192. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Townson-Smith chapel.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
