FLORENCE -MARIONA funeral service for Mr. James Canty Shelley, husband of Carolyn Dodd Shelley, will be at 3:00, Saturday afternoon, January 29, 2005, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Gerald McCants.Mr. Shelley, 65, of Florence, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born October 24, 1939, in Marion County to the late Joseph C. and Mary Elise Turner Shelley.Mr. Shelley was a member of Northgate Baptist Church. He was a salesman for Coca-Cola, Murray Jacks Cookies and Strike Zone Sporting Goods. He coached youth baseball and basketball. A 13 year MUSC heart transplant survivor, he enjoyed life to its fullest and loved dealing with people.Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, are: sons, James C. (Lynn) Shelley, Jr. of Marion, Anthony Craig (Tammy) Shelley and Joseph Chad (Darci) Shelley, of Florence; daughters, Annette Pope of Statesboro, GA, Sandra (Donald Glenn) Watford of Florence, Susan (Doug) Paulk of Marianna, FL, and Bonnie (Jamie) Weatherford of Darlington; brothers, Carlisle (Pat) Shelley of Florence, and Kenneth (Brenda) Shelley of Darlington; sister, Betty (Billy) King of North Charleston; grandchildren, Amy Renee, James Brian, Brandon, Macey and Braxton Shelley, Tommy Morris, William Michael Watford, James Weatherford, II, Hannah Paulk and great-grandson, Hunter Morris.submitted by Helen Lane Wiggins
