!OBIT:Boone Crisp, Jr., 66, of Pickents, S.C., formerly of Robbinsville, surrounded by his loving family and friends, went home to be with the Lord after a valiant fight with cancer, on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at his home.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Boone Crisp Sr., and Delona Sawyer Crisp Elliot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Elliott.
After graduating from Robbinsville High School, he volunteered in the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany.
After his term in service he then attended and graduated from Western Carolina University with an associates degree business administration.
Boone was an active member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Pickens, S.C., for 28 years. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and on various committees and active missionary work.
He was also a Mason and a Shriner.
He won many awards such as the Dale Carnegie Hman Relations Award, Who’s Who in Business and Leadership, Top Sales Award with AFLAC, Lincoln National, Hartford and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
He was self-employed as the founder of two businesses, Insurance Brokerage Service of Pickens, which has been established for over 30 years, and Appalachian Grading Service, also in Pickens, established in 1985 to become one of the leading grading competitors in the upstate.
The exclusive Reserve on Lake Keowee is home to many fine examples of his work.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 41 years, Sonja Patterson Crisp; daughters and their husbands, Shona and Mark Dow, Heather and Wade Crips; grandchildren, Cody and Jayden Crisp, all of Pickens; and brother and his wife, Bill and Jennifer Elliott of Robbinsville.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 11 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens, S.C. Graveside services were held Tuesday, at Sawyers Creek Cemetery in Robbinsville. The Rev. Daniel Stewart officiated.
Dillard Funeral Home of Pickens, S.C., and Townson-Smith Funeral Home of Robbinsville were in charge of the arrangements.
