Lawton Waters, 95, of Attica, Mich., previously of Berkley, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Lapeer Regional Medical Center in Michigan.
He was the son of Samuel J. and Emma (Cope) Waters. He was born Oct. 10, 1911, in Nantahala.
He married Helen Virginia Owenby on Nov. 9, 1936, in Nantahala. He had lived in Berkley, Mich., for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Helen Waters of Berkley, Mich.; two sons, Newell ( Patricia ) Waters of Attica, Mich., and Thomas Waters of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Celvin, S.J. and Dwight; and three sisters, Faye, Arlisa and Arlene.
He is preceded in death by a son L.J. Waters, grandson Terry Waters, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, Mich. Pastor James Byrd of the First Baptist Church officiated.
