Hugh Allen
Hugh Ethridge Allen, age 79, of the Fort Hill community in Robbinsville, passed away at Mission Hospital in Asheville on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Daniel and Della Juanita DeButy Allen; his brothers, Kenneth Edward, Donald Alvin, and Joseph Richard (Joe Dickey) Allen; and a baby daughter, Martha Dianna Allen.

Hugh was a native of Graham County and he served two years in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an employee of Alcoa for 40 years, starting as a bus boy at Tapoco Lodge and eventually became Superintendent of Tapoco Incorporated. He was a member of Robbinsville First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Carpenter Allen; his daughter Margaret Evelyn Allen of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his son and daughter in law, Hugh David and Jeannie Elizabeth Allen of Crofton, Md.; and his grandchildren, Patrick Lee, Andrew Tyler, and Meredith Anne McPeters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Townson-Smith Chapel with Rev. Burlin Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mother Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Townson-Smith Chapel.
