Gladys Bryson Huscusson, 87, of Hendersonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Life Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Cherokee County on Sept. 7, 1921, to the late Lawrence Lee Bryson and Jane Derryberry Bryson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor Huscusson, her daughter, Betty Joy, her brother, Herbert Bryson and her granddaughter, Sherry Renee Merrell.
She married William Taylor Huscusson in 1938 and lived in Graham County, where they raised five children. She was the epitome of the true southern lady. She loved having her family with her and prepared many wonderful meals for them. She shared her wisdom with her children and grandchildren during their growing-up years. She was a talented seamstress and loved to work in her flower and vegetable garden. She was a member of West Hendersonville Baptist Church and was a resident of Henderson County since 1962.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Peggy) of Hendersonville, and Harold Mack (Beverly Jean) of Andrews; daughters, Barbara Crisp (Don) of Palmetto, Ga., Judy H. Merrell (Harvey) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Steve Crisp (Elise), Brian Huscusson, Teresa Rose (Mike), Scott Merrell (Alease), Eric Huscusson (Melanie), Robert Merrell (Melissa), Julie Revis, Amanda Kuykendall (Terry), Sara Branch (Scott), Jeremy Ledford (Katie); great-grandchildren, Jayna Crisp, Ali, Jessica, Natalie and Adam Rose, Colton, Trent and Taylor Merrell, Savannah Huscusson, Patrick Coggins, Christopher and Savannah Kuykendall, Madison Joy Jones, Jacob and Joshua Branch, Brigitte and Ceridwen Carter and Chloe and Brianna Revis and a 20th great-grandchild is due in December; a sister Louise Stanley of Andrews and two brothers, Lyle Bryson (Catherine), of Andrews and Vincent (Yvonne) of Gastonia; and a sister-in-law Louise Huscusson Stewart of Robbinsville. She also leaves behind her special caregiver, Karen Revis.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Charles Magnet officiating. The family received friends and family at 1 p.m., prior to the service in the chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
