Mary Miller no ages (bef 1790) 2-1-1-0-0
My analysis (who each person *might* be)
2 males over 16 (bef 1774) = 1. Son?
" males over 16 (bef 1774) = 2. Joseph Miller (1773) son
1 male under 16 (1774/1790) = Jonathan Miller (1776) son
1 female (before 1790) = Mary Faber Miller (1735)

* Ashe County census taker this year was very unhelpful, listing each head of household by initial only.

p. 67 J. Miller age 26-44 (1765/84) 00010-00000-0-0 (next to J. Miller bellow)
p. 67 J. Miller age 45+ (bef 1765) 00001-00100-0-0 (next to J. Miller above)
p. 70 J. Miller age 16-25 (1784/94) 20100-20100-0-0
* Which of above is Jonathan Miller? Based upon his b/d (1776) he fits in the first two households better than the others. Since he should have 4 daughters and one son under 10, then he fits the first one perfectly. That raises the question as to who are the other two J. Millers listed next to him. This census wasn't alphabetical, so these ought to be actual neighbors. One is probably his brother John (1763), the other could be his brother Joseph (1773).

!CENSUS:1820 x
x Jonathan is not listed in Ashe, nor elsewhere nearby as far as I can determine, and I have looked several times. He was either missed completely by the census taker, or perhaps was over in Carter Co., TN at this time. That is just a theory based upon the fact that his father-in-law Mathias Carpenter owned some land there, and the 1820 census is lost for Carter. I have no evidence whatsoever that Jonathan ever lived there, but it is just a thought to explain his absense in 1820.;

!TOMBSTONE:Ashe Co, NC Welch Cemetery "Jonathan Miller, Dec 28, 1776 - Jul 1, 1854". I visited the grave on Sep 29, 1995 and it was still legible, although the stone was very badly covered in moss, most of which appeared fossilized. The engraving was slanted and had obviously been hand carved. I have a photo attached.
The cemetery is on the hill behind Jonathan Miller's home, which was still standing, and apparently occupied in 1995 when I passed by.;
