Pierce Odell Sawyer

GRAHAM — Mr. Pierce Odell Sawyer, 85, of 4330 Wildlife Lane, died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the Hospice Home of Burlington.
He was retired from Dixie Yarn, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Texie Jackson Sawyer of the home; daughters, Brenda Strickland and husband, Ken, of Cerro Gordo, N.C. and Gail Casey and husband, Michael, of Surfside Beach, S.C.; sons, Danny Sawyer of the home, Tony Sawyer of Graham, and Eddie Sawyer of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Tessie Richburg of Greeleyville, S.C., Hazel Violette of Mullins, S.C., and Mary Sykes of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sawyer and Essie Campbell Sawyer; a son, Bobby Sawyer; and a brother, Buddy Sawyer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Jim Racke.

Burial will be in Moore’s Chapel cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday, and at other times at the residence.
