Services for Mr. Howell W. "Buddy' Kennedy, age 71, of Lindale, are scheduled for 2 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Wayne Fancher, Regan McClenny, & Johnny Anders officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery. Mr. Kennedy went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Hospice Homeplace of East Texas in Tyler.
Buddy was born in Lindale to Howell & Pansy Kennedy, and was an honest, sincere and genuine man that loved his wife, his family, and his church family. He was a member of the Lindale church of Christ. He was well known throughout the community for being an articulate bricklayer for 45 years. He bricked numerous residential homes and commercial buildings in the Tyler area such as Harvey Hall, and the AT&T Building (formerly Southwestern Bell) in Lindale and also numerous State Government Buildings in the Tyler & surrounding area.
As a child, he learned to play a lead guitar and he played throughout his life. He was a member of the Shadows Band and the Music Makers Band. They would perform at many local nursing homes, community social events and some restaurants. Buddy always took pride in helping others and would perform at benefit shows raising money for needy families, organizations such as MDA, the Lindale Rotary Club and the Lindale Volunteer Department.
Buddy leaves behind his Wife of 47 years, Inez Kennedy. A Son, Keith Kennedy, Daughter & Son-In-Law, Kathy & Todd Cooley, 2 Grandchildren: Justin & Elaine Smith and their father, Ernest Smith, all of Lindale. Sisters& Brothers-In-law: Opal & Audie Golden of Chapel Hill, Shirley & Eldon McCurley of Flint. Sisters: Bobby Harwell of Longview, Rita Sitton of Lindale, & Nita Kennedy of Tyler. .Brother-In-Law & wife, Johnny & Glenda Johnson of Weatherford, Brother-In-Law, Larry Johnson of Lindale, & Sister-In-Law & Husband, Rita & Paul Manske of Carrollton. Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, & Friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, & a brother.
Pallbearers: Larry Golden, Oscar Elliott, O.D. Kennedy, George Hill, Darwin Wright, James McClenny, Sherman Nobles, & Dr. Wendell Hand.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Shaddows Band, and the Music Makers Band.
Family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM on Tuesday evening at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
