Marty and Karla Grant

!NOTES:Around 1982 Sonny Grant and I (Marty Grant) decided to climb the mountain behind Granny George's house (Della C. Wright Conley George, our great grandmother). This was in Topton, NC.
Sonny was about 15 and I was 14. Our 2nd cousin Russell Lequire, then aged 8 or 9 thought he'd go with us. We didn't think a little kid could climb the mountain but we couldn't talk him out of it. We got really close to the top before we all decided to turn back. We were worried about Russell, but he was as tough as we were. Probably tougher. We all got back unharmed. The next day Sonny and I tried again, but we still didn't make it to the top. Russell didn't go this time. He probably climbed it a dozen times after that, I'd imagine.;

William “Russell” Lequire, age 41, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, January 25th, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 28th, at Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Tuesday, January 27th, at Macon Funeral Home. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
