Diane Smithey Porter, 55, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Regency Hospital in Florence after an extended illness. Diane was born October 4, 1954 in Marion County, a daughter of Earline Rogers Smithey and the late James Freddie Smithey. She was a homemaker. Diane was a member of Gapway Baptist Church and actively attended Revelation Ministries. Surviving Diane are: a Special Friend: Wayne Hooks of the home; a Daughter: Mrs. Travis (Gina) Turner of Marion; a Son: Brandon Porter of Marion; 2 Granddaughters: Elizabeth Turner and Brook Porter; 3 Grandsons: Chase Turner, Landon Porter and Bryson Porter; her Mother: Earline Rogers Smithey of Mullins; a Brother: Harold Smithey of Nichols; 3 Sisters: Dr. Glen (Jeannie) Askins of Charleston, Mrs. Loyd (Lynn) McKenzie of Florence and Mrs. Jody (Sheila) Welch of Florence; her extended family: Mr. and Mrs. David (Toni Lynn) Richardson and their children, Walker, Jeffrey and Luke of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins, with Rev. Chip Scruggs officiating. Entombment will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. Memorials may be made to Revelation Ministries, 402 Kimball Dr., Marion, S.C. 29571.
