!NOTES:Benjamin Tutt is clearly part of the large VA and SC Tutt family. However, I haven't figured out how he ties into them.

!NOTES:He died before the 1850 census, so we have no primary record with a birth place for him. However, some of his children lived to 1880 and 1900 and are listed on those census which includes the person's parents place of birth:
Margaret Tutt (c1812), 1880 father born SC
Celia Tutt Hampton (c1822), 1880 father born NC, same per 1900 census
Rachel Tutt Ledford (c1825), 1880 father born NC
Mary Tutt Parker (c1828), 1880 father born SC
* Based on these records, that's two for NC, two for SC. However, since there were no Tutts anywhere in NC when Benjamin was born (as far as is known), SC must be more accurate.
