U.S. Veteran Mr. Charles Lee Collins, 71, husband of Christa Thomas Collins died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Carolinas Hospital System of Marion after an illness. Charles was born June 20, 1945 in Marion County, a son of the late Neal Clardy Collins and the late Reba Shaw Collins. He had retired from Heritage Sportswear as an Industrial Engineer. Charles was a US Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church. Surviving Charles in addition to his wife of the home are: 2 Daughters: Mia Collins Baxley of Matthews, N.C. and Kelly (Donnie) Sauls of Lake City; his Grandchildren: Logan Sawyer, Eric Baxley, Brian Baxley, Cody Sauls and Garrett Sauls; a Sister: Donna (Kin) Massey of Conway; a Brother: Ronald Collins of Mullins; and multiple nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by 4 brothers and 5 sisters, Ray (Elise) Collins, Flora Jean Collins (Terry) Carter, Carolyn Collins (Lynn) Jackson, Frank (Beth) Collins, Annette Collins (Ambrose) Carter, Margaret Collins (George) Richardson, Lillie Faye Collins, Ned Collins and Ted Collins, and a special brother-in-law, Gilbert McRae. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, May 29, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Tranquil United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Collier officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tranquil United Methodist Church, c/o Gloria Taylor, 3602 Sand Hill Rd., Mullins, SC 29574.
