!MARRIAGE:1860/1861 to Daniel E. EVANS, * Not proven, but in 1870 census they were listed in same household and her with surname of Evans, and both her children also, Daniel E. EVANS' marriage to Mary LEQUIRE listed as his second marriage on 1900 census, if he had been married to Rachel, this should have been his third marriage, so they probably were not actually married, unless they had it annulled;

(03) Adam Bud Grant:
Notes:
!BIRTH:1872 from Census records, 1880 age 8 (1871/72);
!BIRTHPLACE:Swain Co, NC;
!FATHER:Unknown;
!MOTHER:Rachel L. GRANT * Not proven, in 1880 Adam was residing with grandmother Mary CARGLE and Sarah GRANT (listed as Sarah CARGLE), it seems that all children residing there were Sarah's, Rachel was living next door with her two children, in 1900 Rachel stated she had 3 children, but only 1 was still living (George W.), the other one was John, Adam may be the third. I thought Sarah might be his mother, but in 1900 she said she had 4 children, all 4 of which are still living (Giltus, William, Rachel, Roxenna), also Adam witnessed the marriage of George W. GRANT, his brother (or 1st cousin if he was Sarah's son), so I choose Rachel over Sarah as his mother, Ollie Vee CLARK says she is sure that Adam is a son of Sarah GRANT instead;
!CENSUS:1880 Swain Co, NC Charleston Twp # 58 Adam CARGLE, 8 (1871/72) born NC, father born NC, mother born NC, listed as son of Mary CARGLE, last name should be GRANT was not listed that way;
!WITNESS:11 May 1893 Swain Co, NC Marriage of G.W. GRANT to S.M. THOMASSON as "A.B. GRANT";
!DEATH:1894 White Co, GA according to Ollie Vee CLARK;
!NOTE:In a letter to me from Ollie Vee CLARK dated July 27, 1990 she said "Adam (Bud) GRANT was Sarah's son. He lived with my Grandmother & family for a time. He only had one hand. He had got the other one cut off in a Syrup Mill. He died quite young...";
