WILL OF SAMUEL EDWARDS
In the name of God Amen - I Samuel Edwards of Marion District South Carolina
being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God
calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed
for all men once to die do make and ordain this my will and testament
that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul
into hand of almight god that give it and my body I recommend to the earth
to be buried in decent Christain Burial at the Discretion of my Executors
nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same
again by the mighty power of god, and as touching such world Estate wherewith
it hath pleased god to blefs me in this life I give devife and dispose of the
same in the following manner and form.
first I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my Dearly beloved wife one hundred
and fifty acres of land including the plantation she now Lives on
I give to my beloved my negro fellow named george and kate I give to
my beloved my and the fourth of my Cattle after they are divided into
four Lots my beloved to take the first choices my beloved to have the forth
of my hogs, she taken first Choices my beloved to have all my Beds and the
furniture belonging to them the Ballance of the household and kitchen to
be divided into four Lots my beloved to have first Choice I give my beloved
Sixty two Dollars and fifty Cents at the above Lands and property to remain
in the pofsefsion of my beloved Durying her life and at her death the
plantation __ and the rest the land to go to my Son Richard and the
ballance of the property at her death to be equally Divided between my heirs
Also I give to my well beloved Daughter Lylea the sum of Sixty two Dollars
and fifty Cents also five hundred acres of Land known by the name of
Philips tract also negro woman named Vilet and her Daughter named Sally
also the forth part of the property that is to be Divided amongst my hiers
Also I give to my well beloved son Richard the sum of Sixty two Dollars
& fifty Cent also one thousand acres of Land joining the plantation I now
live on also one negro girl named such and a boy named Billy also the forth
of the property that to be Divided amongst the hiers
Also I give to my well beloved Son Collin the sum sixty two Dollars and
fifty Cents also nine hundred acres of Land known by the name of Gibsons
tract William Powel is in pofsefsion of four hundred acres of the said
Land if he will pay two hundred Dollars to my son Collin by the first of
January next then I appoint my son Collin to Execute title to the said
powel and if the two hundred Dollars not paid my son Collin to take
pofsefsion of the Land also I give to my son Collin two Children naming
David & Patches to David my gran son I give a negro girl name Jude
to my gran Daughter patches I give a negro girl named Dianna also I give
to my Collin the forth paart of the proerty that is to be Divided Amongst
the hiers
I likewise Constitute make and ordain My beloved wife and my Son Richard
Sole Executrix & Executor of this my will and testament I do appoint my
Executrix & Executor to Sell my Black tools one horse and hand millstons
after Degraying my funeral Charges then the over plufs to be Divided
equal between the four hiers-and I Difannual all and every other former
testaments wills Legacies bequest
