Eunice Sybil Kennedy:
Notes:
On December 24, 1996, Eunice told her daughter, Sandra, that her family lived on (1) the John Way place, (2) the McGahey place, (3) bought the Sidney Henderson place before moving to the Duck Creek place. At Duck Creek, her father, Grady Kennedy, had a peach orchard. Eunice said they used to go by wagon from Sid Henderson's place to Palestine to do business about the Henderson place farm before Grady lost it. (Sidney Henderson was the son of John Henderson.)
When Eunice's family lived on the Kennedy place, they were in Red Springs. When they moved to the Way place, they were in Saline. At Red Springs, she walked to school with the Huey children, mostly girls; there were only 2 boys. It was three miles to Red Springs school. The Huey children moved to Saline after they did.
Eunice started in Saline school in the third grade. Saline Creek divides Saline and Red Springs.
Eunice went to stay with her Aunt Lottie (Lottie Mae McGahey Whisenhunt) in Gresham, Texas, when Aunt Lottie's baby was born. She rode the train from Lindale to Tyler, the route between Tyler, Lindale, and Mineola. That is where she met her husband, Bennie Clyde McKay. They married after Clem Dickerson and Grady Kennedy married. Eunice quit school after her mother, Pearl, died and kept the house and younger kids. - from Sandra McKay Coulter
