Dargan directed to Sheriff that the goods and lands etc of James Lane the deft to levy the sum of $1502.05 and also int. on $1485 from 1 Apr 1842. Whereas on on 12 Jun 1845 Elly Godbold then being Sheriff did levy on a tract of land on WIllow Creek on which Mrs.Lane then lived containing 1000a ... James Lane was seized at time of his death, ... exposed to sale at public auction 7 Jul 1845 and purchased by George W. Dargan for $1237.27 highest bid. Whereas Archibald Carmichael now successor of said E. Godbold and duly commissoned Sheriff.
