Earl Max Phillips, age 61, died Dec. 19, 2006. He was born in Murphy, NC, on Dec. 4, 1945, the son of Dillard Frank Phillips and Vonna (Grant) Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a cattle farmer, construction equipment operator and a Baptist.

He is survived by wife, Lynda Pankey Phillips of the home; three sons, Todd and wife, Teresa Phillips, of Kensett, James and wife, Sher Atwell, of Conroe, Texas, and Jacob and wife, Julie Phillips, of Conroe, Texas; three daughters, Amanda Phillips of Conroe, Texas, and Carrie and Caroline Phillips both of Robbinsville, N.C.; two sisters, Linda Campbell of Hywassee, N.C., and Brenda Presley of Andrews, N.C.; step-son, Steve and wife, Andrea Pankey, of Bradford; seven grandchildren, Matthew, P.J., Jenna, Celia, Andrew Phillips, Shelby Atwell and Alesha Pankey.

He was preceded in death by son, Matthew Phillips, and his parents.

Memorial services 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Bald Knob-Judsonia. Funeral services and burial will be Saturday, Dec. 23, in Robbinsville, N.C.;
