!NOTES:I don't have absolute proof that George Rowan is the same Mr. Rowan that Sarah "Sally" Davis married, but he is the best match for several reasons, not least of which is that his wife was named Sarah "Sally", and also that he was the *only* Rowan in Burke during the proper time frame.;

!NOTES:George Rowan may be from Carter Co., TN as his oldest son (unproven) was born in Carter, and there were at least two early Rowan marriages there (Margaret m Daniel Miller in 1810, and Nathaniel m Isbel Duncan in 1813. It would also explain the lack of Rowans in the early census records in or near Burke Co., NC as the 1790, 1800 and 1810 census are lost for Tennessee.

!NOTES:"Sally" is a common nickname for "Sarah";

!NOTE:Don't know who Sarah's husband was for certain, other than "Mr. Rowan". However, I believe George Rowan is the best match. His wife was named Sarah "Sally" and he was from the right region, and his family travelled with some of the Davis across several counties, so that shows an association at least. It would be nice to have some more solid proof that his wife Sarah was indeed Sarah Davis.;
