Doris Lee Baxley Britt
January 26, 1929 – January 3, 2011
MULLINS, MARION COUNTY, S.C.
Mrs. Doris Lee Baxley Britt, 81, widow of Rev. William Earl Britt, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness. Mrs. Britt was born January 26, 1929 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Robert and Alma Odom Baxley. She was a registered cosmetologist for 40 years. She was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Adult Choir. Mrs. Britt was a member of Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Britt are: A Daughter: Diana Jean Britt Elliott of Mullins; a Son; Dennis Wayne (Joni) Britt of Florence; a Daughter-in-Law: LaDale Britt of Dawsonville, Ga.; her Grandchildren: Debi Boatwright Kellogg of Florence, Beth Barger (Charlie) Hill of Dawsonville, Ga., Brian Keith (Melanie) Britt of Augusta, Ga., Michael Gene (Wendy) Boatwright, Jr. of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Joi Ard (Randall) Stephens of Flowery Branch, Ga.; and her Great Grandchildren: Allan Michael Kendall, Alicia Britt, Daniel Kellogg, Amanda Britt, Zo‚ Hill, Kristofer Stephens and Sara Boatwright. Mrs. Britt was predeceased by a son, David Earl Britt and a great granddaughter, Gracie Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 7, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Thad Jacobs, Rev. Neil Hinson and Rev. Johnny Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
