Nettie Long
Nettie Stewart Long, 80, of Snowbird Road in Robbinsville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 9, 2011 after a brief illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver to her extended family.

She was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Graham County to the late Tillman Stewart and the late Lenora Cook Stewart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Long, who passed away in 2010; and her brother, Anthony Stewart.

She is survived by her three children, Joe Long and his wife Diana of Clemmons, Jack Long and his wife Brenda of Robbinsville and Janie Long Mundy and her husband Mark of Cornelius. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michelle Long, Joshua Long and his wife Caroline, Joanna Long, Brittany Long Tincher and her husband Billy, and Courtney Long. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Alawayne Phillips Hoffstetler; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Marie Stewart, Buster and Carolyn Stewart, and Daniel and Joy Stewart; and a host of nephews and nieces from the Long and Stewart families.

Nettie was a lifelong member of Cedar Cliff Baptist Church on West Buffalo in Robbinsville. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Robbinsville.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church with Revs. Daniel Stewart and Mickey Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Carver Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday March 11 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.
