I (Marty Grant) am a Great Great Grandson of Noah and Ibiline Gilbert.
Noah Washington Gilbert was born July 1855 in Union Co, GA in the Gum Log area. He was probably named after his Uncle Noah Washington Stewart. He was known by everyone as "Wash" Gilbert.
Wash was a son of Joshua Gilbert and Mary Stewart. This is proven by the 1860 and 1870 census, and by Wash's death certificate.
Wash Gilbert was home with his parents for the 1860 census in Union Co, GA, age 4.

I have not yet been able to find him on the 1880 census. He was not home with his father then, but I didn't find him elsewhere either. However, it should be noted that the 1880 census for Union Co, GA is horribly dim, and very difficult to read, totally impossible on some pages, so I could have easily missed him. He would have been about 24 years old, and still single then, so he could have been residing with someone else.
On 3 Mar 1881, Wash Gilbert married Ibiline Henderson in Union Co, GA. They were married by Charles Rhodes, Justice of the Peace.
Ibiline Henderson was born 3 Oct 1863 in Union Co, GA, daughter of Thomas M. Henderson and Margaret E. Stewart. Wash and Ibiline were 1st cousins, once removed. (Noah Stewart was their common ancestor, he was Wash's grandfather, and Ibiline's Great Grandfather).
Wash and Ibiline and family were listed on the 1900 census in Union Co, GA in Gum Log Township. They were next door to Wash's brother Elijah Gilbert and Ibiline's parents were just 5 houses away. Many other of their relatives were close by as well. For some reason Ibiline was listed as "Nancy" (either that, or I misread it). Wash's half brother John Chandler was living with them.

Wash and Ibiline and family were listed on the 1910 census in Union Co, GA in Gum Log Township. They were two houses from Wash's brother Elijah Gilbert, and were living next door to my ancestors John P. and Darthula Grant. Ibiline's widowed mother Margaret was just four houses away.

Wash Gilbert died in March 1914 in neighboring Cherokee County, NC. I don't know why he was there, but they lived very close to the border, and had relatives in both states. His death record (which was illegible in several places) showed his parents as Joshua Gilbert and Mary Stewart.
Noah Washington Gilbert was buried at the Henderson Cemetery in Union Co, GA. His grave is marked with only a small marble post, with no inscription. Back in 1990, I visited this cemetery, and I think I located his grave, but there is no way to be sure which one was him, as there were many with marble posts. Homer and Minnie Barnes, who lived nearby, and are related, told me which grave to look for, but I don't recall now which one they said.
I have not checked the 1920 census yet to find Ibiline and family, but presumably she was still in Union Co, GA.
Ibiline Henderson Gilbert died on 26 Jun 1934 in Union Co, GA. She is buried beside Wash at the Henderson Cemetery. Her grave is also marked with a marble post.
Wash and Ibiline had 10 children. All are proven by census records, as well as other documentation, but all were also well known by my grandfather and grandmother (Garland and Luella Grant) who shared data with me on them. Several cousins have also shared data with me on the Gilbert family from their own personal knowledge. Although many of these lived and died in my own lifetime, I never knew any of them, except my Great Grandmother Lilly Belle Gilbert Grant.
Jennie Margaret Gilbert (1885)
Thomas J. Gilbert was born March 1882 (per 1900 census) in Union Co, GA. He was probably named after his grandfather Thomas Henderson.
He was home with his parents for the 1900 census, but gone by 1910. I haven't found him on the 1910 census yet.
Thomas Gilbert married Orra Hogan. I have no additional information on them.
Jennie Margaret Gilbert was born 1 May 1885 (per tombstone) in Union Co, GA. She was probably named "Margaret" after her grandfather Margaret Stewart Henderson.
She was home with her parents for the 1900 census, but gone by 1910. I haven't found her on the 1910 census yet. I believe they were in Polk Co, TN by that time.
Jennie married William Albert Evans before 1910 in Union Co, GA. He was born 9 May 1881 in Swain Co, NC. He was a son of William Wexley "Wick" Evans and Martha Fuller.
They moved to Copper Hill, Polk Co, TN after marriage. He died on 22 Jul 1933, either in TN or in GA. He is buried at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Co, GA.
Margaret apparently moved to Marietta, Cobb Co, GA, where she died on 26 Oct 1959. She is buried beside William Albert Evans at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
They had eight children. I'm not sure how many are still living.
James Marion Gilbert was born 9 Sep 1887 (per tombstone) in Union Co, GA.
He was home with his parents for the 1900 and 1910 census in Union Co, GA.
Marion married Martha Ada Griggs in Union Co, GA, sometime before 1922. They moved to Murphy, in neighboring Cherokee Co, NC.
Marion died on 4 Mar 1969, and Ada on 10 Nov 1982. I don't know if they died in Union Co, GA or elsewhere. They are buried at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Co, GA.
Marion and Ada had five children, four of which are still living, I believe.
Minnie M. Gilbert was born Jul 1888 (per 1900 census) in Union Co, GA.
She was home with her parents for the 1900 census, but gone by 1910. I was told she died young, so it appears she died between 1900 and 1910. She is buried at the Henderson Cemetery in Union Co, GA. Her grave is marked only by a marble post, with no inscription.
William Arthur Gilbert was born 17 Jan 1893 (per tombstone) in Union Co, GA.
He was home with his parents for the 1900 and 1910 census in Union Co, GA.
He married Wilda Mae Warren sometime between 1910 and 1915 in Union Co, GA or Cherokee Co, NC.
William died on 1 Apr 1970, and Wilda on 29 Jul 1975, both in Cherokee Co, NC. They are both buried at the Sunset Cemetery in Cherokee Co, NC.
They had five children, I don't know how many are still living.
Eller O. Gilbert was born 24 May 1894 (per several of her children) in Union Co, GA.
Eller was home with her parents for the 1900 and 1910 census in Union Co, GA.
Eller married Allen Halgrum Davis between 1910 and 1918 in Union Co, GA or Cherokee Co, NC. Allen was a son of Henry Allen Davis and Amanda Cook of Cherokee Co, NC.
Allen and Eller moved to Texas, where both died. Allen died October 1956, and Eller died on 5 Jul 1975.
They had three children, only one still living.
Fred McKinley Gilbert was born 25 Sep 1896 in Cherokee Co, NC.
He was home with his parents for the 1900 and 1910 census in Union Co, GA.
Fred married Laner Emmaline Roberson on 9 Oct 1918 in Union Co, GA.
They lived in Cherokee Co, NC and in Union Co, GA.
Fred died on 1 Apr 1971 in Blairsville, Union Co, GA, and Laner died 24 Jun 1976, same place. I don't know where they are buried.
They had 7 children. I'm not sure if all of them are still living or not.
Lilly Belle Gilbert was born 10 May 1902 in Union Co, GA. She was a twin to Samuel Gilbert.
Lilly was home with her parents for the 1910 census.
Lilly married Marvin R. Grant on 11 Nov 1920 in Union Co, GA. They are my Great Grandparents.

Samuel Gilbert was born 10 May 1902 in Union Co, GA. He was a twin to Lilly Belle Gilbert.
Samuel was home with his parents for the 1910 census.
Samuel died at age 21 in Canton, Haywood Co, NC. I don't know what he died of. He is buried at the Henderson Cemetery in Union Co, GA. His grave is marked with a marble post, no inscription.
John Gilbert was born 11 Mar 1906 in Cherokee Co, NC. He was home with his parents for the 1910 census.
He married Nema --- ca 1945. I don't know what her maiden name was.
John died ca 1949 in Gastonia, Gaston Co, NC. I don't know where he is buried, nor if he had any children.
