I don't know if Elizabeth was born a Grant and never married or if she was married to a Mr. Grant who died prior to the 1850 census. Unfortunately the 1850 census is the only record I have for her at present.

If she is a widow I don't know who her husband may have been. Looking back at the 1840 census there were three Grant households in Marlboro and four in neighboring Richmond Co., NC. None of them seem like they have Elizabeth Grant living with them based on analysis.

It occurs to me that she could be the 2nd wife of Richard S. Grant. He was listed on the 1840 census with no apparent wife, but died before 1850. It is possible that he married Elizabeth in the 1840's leaving her a widow before 1850. This is just speculation though.

Elizabeth is listed on the 1850 census in Marlboro, living by herself. She isn't listed near any of the other Grants. Her next door neighbors were Alexander and Mary (---) Livingston on one side and Jacob and Julia (---) Greene on the other.

I didn't find Elizabeth on the 1860 census in Marlboro or elsewhere. She may have died before then or perhaps remarried.
