I (Marty Grant) am not related to the Jordan Grant family as far as I know. I am very interested in him though.
Jordan Grant was born ca 1800/10 presumably in Northampton Co, NC. I don't know who his parents might have been. There are several possibilities.
Jordan Grant obtained a marriage bond to marry Rilly Parker on 23 Dec 1826 in Northampton Co, NC. They were listed on the 1830 census in Northampton not particularly close to any other Grant families.

On the 1840 census, I didn't find Jordan listed. Their last known child was born ca 1833, so he might have died before 1840, and Rilly could have been living with some of her relatives.

Jordan died sometime between 1833 and 1850. His wife, Rilly was listed as an apparent widow on the 1850 census. They weren't particularly close to any other Grant families.

In 1860 there was an "Adavella Grant" listed on her own in Northampton Co, NC. I think this is the same person as "Rilly", though I'm not totally sure. She was listed next door to Jordon C. Grant, Rilly's son.

Some of Jordan and Rilly's children are proven by the 1850 census.
Sarah Grant was born ca 1827/28 in Northampton Co, NC. In 1850, Sarah Grant was just four houses away from Rilly living with the Elisha Parker family. Elisha was 16 years older than Rilly, so could be her older brother or perhaps her Uncle. I'm assuming that this Sarah Grant is a child of Jordan and Rilly, but have no solid proof. There were two marriages for a Sarah Grant in the 1850's, one of them may be this same Sarah. "Sarah Grant" married Lemuel Draper 9 Dec 1852 and "Sarah A. Grant" married William Lassiter 24 Dec 1855. I don't know which, if either, of these is this Sarah.

Henry T. Grant was born ca 1830/31 in Northampton Co, NC. He was home with his mother in 1850. Henry T. Grant obtained a marriage bond on 29 May 1851 in Northampton to marry Susan A. Coles. They were listed in Northampton Co, NC in the 1860 census. The oldest child was listed as "Louisa Cole" but with ditto marks meaning "Grant", but her age predates their marriage, so that may indicate Susan was married before and Coles isn't her maiden name.
