I (Marty Grant) am not related to Jacob Hensley as far as I know.

Jacob Hensley was born ca 1809/10 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee (per 1850 census). I don't know what county.

I don't know who Jacob's parents are. I don't have any real clues who they might be.

Jacob Hensley would have been about 1 year old or less by the time of the 1810 census, so if listed he should be in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1800/10), but unfortunately, the 1810 census is lost for Tennessee and Georgia.

For the 1820 census, Jacob would have been about 10 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 10-15 category (born ca 1804/10) or possibly in the "under 10" category (born ca 1810/20). This census is lost for several Georgia counties and half of Tennessee, so it would be difficult (without further clues) to determine which of the several Hensleys listed in 1820 contained Jacob as a child.

For the 1830 census, Jacob would have been about 20 years old, so he should be enumerated in the 20-29 age group (born ca 1800/10) or may be in the 15-19 category (born ca 1810/15). I don't know if Jacob was in Tennessee or Georgia that year.  There were lots of suspects in 1830 Tennessee and Georgia with apparent sons in these two age groups. No way yet to narrow the list down any.

On 28 Dec 1837, Jacob Hensley married Elizabeth Collins in Floyd County, Georgia. Elizabeth was born ca 1815/16 in Georgia, parents unknown.

They may have lived in the section of Floyd County that became Chattooga County in 1838, for they were found in Chattooga later on (or else they moved there).

They were in Chattooga County for the 1840 census, but listed as "Hesley". They were between John Storey and William J. Smith. A James Collins (c1780/90) was a few houses away. Could he be Elizabeth's father?

I didn't find them in 1870 or 1880.

Children

Jacob and Elizabeth had at least seven children per the 1850 and 1860 census. I have no additional data on any of them so far.
