I (Marty Grant) am not related to Mark H. Hensley as far as I know.

Mark H. Hensley was born ca 1817/18 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee (per 1850 census), probably in Wayne County, Tennessee.

Mark H. Hensley is a proven child of Lemuel Hensley (1780/90) of Wayne Co, NC, as proven by a 3 Apr 1841 deed naming the heirs of Lemuel Hensley.

Mark H. Hensley would have been about 2 years old by the time of the 1820 census, so should be enumerated in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1810/20). Lemuel Hensley had five apparent sons in that age group, one of them was undoubtedly Mark.

In 1830, Mark would have been about 12 years old, so should be enumerated in the age 10-14 category (born ca 1815/20), and Lemuel Hensley did have 2 apparent sons that age with him in Wayne County.

Mark H. Hensley married someone sometime in the 1830-1838 timeframe in Wayne County. His wife Sarah C. --- must be a second wife, as she is not old enough to be mother of his eldest children. I don't know when he married Sarah. She was born ca 1827/28 in Tennessee. I don't know her maiden name.

Mark H. Hensley was listed on the 1838 tax list in Wayne County with 71 acres of land.

I did not find Mark H. Hensley listed on the 1840 census. He did not seem to be listed in Wayne County, Tennessee that year, nor was he in Searcy County, Arkansas that year either. His elder brother John was also missing, so perhaps they were in the same area that got missed by the census taker. Mark may have already been in Searcy County, Arkansas by 1840, but he was not on the census there that year. I read the entire thing looking for him, and didn't find him.

In 1850, Mark H. Hensley was listed in Searcy County, Arkansas in Wiley's Cove District, but not near any of the other Hensleys.

They were still in Searcy for the 1860 census just five houses from his brother John M. Hensley (c1805) in Bear Creek District.

Mark and his first wife and wife Sarah had as many as 16 children per the 1850 through 1880 census records. I don't have much additional data on any of them.
