I (Marty Grant) am not related to Michael Hensley as far as I know.

Michael Hensley was born ca 1823/24 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee (per 1850 census). I don't know what County he might have been born in, though it seems likely it was somewhere in eastern or central Tennessee.

I don't know who Michael's parents were, nor what Hensley family he might be closely related to. There were other Hensleys in Marshall County, Alabama at the same time he was, and they were all born in Tennessee as well, so should be considered possible relatives, possibly brothers or at least cousins: Miller Hensley (c1819 TN), Enoch Hensley (c1829 TN), and John Hensley (c1815 TN). None of these were listed near Michael, but could certainly be related. Of those three, Miller and John are thought to be sons of Ichabod Hensley (c1780/83).

For the 1830 census, Michael Hensley would have been about 6 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 5-9 category (born ca 1820/25). There were far too many Hensleys in Tennessee with apparent sons this age. However, there were none in Alabama in 1830, so presumably Michael was still in Tennessee that year with his parents.

For the 1840 census, Michael would have been about 16 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 15-19 category (born ca 1820/25). There were no Hensleys in Marshall County, Alabama that year, but plenty of Hensleys in Tennessee. There were several Hensleys in nearby Cherokee County, Alabama, including four with apparent sons age 15-19, though I don't know if any of these could be Michael.

Michael Hensley married Sarah --- sometime before 1848 possibly in Marshall County, Alabama (or perhaps in Tennessee somewhere). Sarah was born ca 1827/28 in Tennessee. I don't know her maiden name.

Michael and family were listed on the 1850 census in Marshall County, Alabama, but not near any of the other Hensleys who were there that year.

I did not find Michael and family on the 1860 census.

I found a family in 1860 Mississippi County, Arkansas that may be Sarah (I'm fairly sure that it is her). If this is her, then that would mean that Michael Hensley died sometime between ca 1854 and ca 1857, presumably in Marshall County, Alabama, and that Sarah then married William Webster sometime in that same range, either in Alabama or in Arkansas. William was born ca 1823/24 in Alabama. I don't know who his parents are.

William and Sarah were listed on the 1860 census in Mississippi Co, AR with several young Webster children, and Sarah's older Hensley children all with them.

Children

Michael and Sarah had four apparent children per the 1850 and 1860 census. Sarah had at least two more by her second marriage. I have no additional data on any of them yet.
