Lane Genealogy - Marion Co., SC
Welcome to my Lane web pages.
My most recent Lane ancestor is Charlotte Lane (1833-1899) who married Ebenezer Campbell in Marion Dist., SC ca 1852. Charlotte is a child of Alexander Lane (c1787-c1858) and Lucinda Blackman?. Alexander Lane is a child of Osborne Lane (c1750s-1840) and Hepsabeth Crawford.
Osborne Lane's parents are not proven, but he could be connected to some of the Lane families who were living in the area early on. Almost all the Lanes in Marion and Dillon Counties descend from Osborne Lane. There were several other Lane families in nearby counties and they appear to be related to one another.
DNA evidence links our Lanes with those who originated in Wayne Co., NC. Osborne was already in Marion, SC area before Wayne became a county, but the Lanes there are certainly related somehow.
