The author (Marty Grant) is not related to Elizabeth Patterson as far as can be determined.

Elizabeth was born ca 1800/10 per her ages on the 1830 and 1840 census. I don't know if she was born a Patterson or was married to one who died before 1830. She had a small child at home in 1830, but it might not be her own but a nephew or something.

She is listed on the 1830 census in Hall Co., GA, but not near any other Pattersons.

I wasn't able to find Elizabeth on the 1850 census. She may have married, moved away or died.

There is a marriage for an Elizabeth Patterson dated 1 Sep 1844 in Hall Co., GA to Lawrence Bryan. This could be her or perhaps a different Elizabeth. I tried to find them on the 1850 census but was unable to.

Elizabeth Patterson of Hall Co., GA is mentioned in The Georgia Black Book by Robert Scott Davis, Jr. 1982. It refers to her fraudulently winning a lot in Cherokee Co., GA in the land lottery. The fraud was that she applied as a widow but wasn't actually a widow at the time.

Children of Elizabeth Patterson. The 1830 census shows a boy born ca 1825/30 with Elizabeth. He was gone by 1840.
