Howell Stroud (c1816) and Matilda Haley of Obion Co, TN

I (Marty Grant) am a 1st Cousin 6 times removed of Howell Stroud.

Howell Stroud was born ca 1815/16 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee. I don't know what county he was born in, though probably Dickson County.

Howell Stroud is a proven son of Jesse and Tabitha (Hicks) Stroud and was named as such in Jesse's Will of 1834. His father listed him as son "Howell".

Howell was probably home with his parents in 1820, though I don't yet have their census entry for that year.

Howell was apparently home with his parents for the 1830 census in Obion Co, TN age 10-14 (born ca 1815/20), and apparently home with his widowed mother in 1840, age 20-29 (born ca 1810/20).

On or about 24 Feb 1842 Howell Stroud married Matilda Haley in Obion Co, TN. I don't know if the marriage date is the actual date of marriage or the date of a marriage bond. Matilda was born ca 1825/26 in Tennessee. I don't know who her parents were.

Howell was listed on the 1850 census in Obion County next door to his widowed mother.

I have no data on them after 1850. Unfortunately there are no decent 1860 census indexes for Tennessee. They were not in Obion County still in 1860, at least not that I could find.

Children

Howell and Matilda had two children by 1850, and probably many more afterwards.
