I (Marty Grant) don't know how (or if) I'm related to Moses Turner.

Moses Turner was born before 1755 (per 1800 census). I don't know where he was born, though he was living in Richmond Co, NC in 1790 and Marlboro District, South Carolina by 1800, but I don't know if he was born in either of those places (which border each other, by the way).

I don't know who Moses' parents were, but I'd wager that he is a brother to Thomas Turner (bef 1755) who lived near him in both Richmond Co, NC and Marlboro Dist, SC.

Moses Turner married someone (name unknown) probably by the 1770's.

Moses Turner was listed on the 1785 state census in Richmond Co, NC. He was listed in the same section with his probable brother Thomas Turner (bef 1755) about 18 houses apart. John Dunbarr and Duncan Finlah were listed next to Moses on either side.

Moses Turner was listed on the 1790 census in Richmond Co, NC. His brother Thomas had moved into what is now Marlboro Co, SC by then. It is possible they lived near the border, and were still close to each other. For this census, Moses family were all enumerated in the "Other" column. This column was for those considered "Free Colored" by the census taker. This makes it difficult to identify who was who. Moses was listed between Joseph Griffin and William Izard's households. Moses was the only Turner in Richmond in 1790.

1790 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census)

By 1800, Moses had joined his probable brother Thomas over in neighboring Marlboro District, SC. Marlboro District had been formed in 1798 (effective 1800) from Cheraws District.

Moses Turner was listed on the 1800 census in Marlboro District, SC. Unfortunately the census taker alphabetized the list, so I can't tell who his neighbors were, or if he lived near any of the other Turners.

1800 Marlboro District, SC pg 58 Moses Turner 11001-21112-0-2

1 Male(s) 0-9 (1790-1800)	Son?
2 Female(s) 45 & up (before 1755)	Wife? (Bef 1755)
					Sister? Sister-in-law (bef 1755)
1 Female(s) 26-44 (1755-1774)	Daughter? (1755/74)
1 Female(s) 16-25 (1774-1784)	Daughter? (1774/84)

2 Female(s) 0-9 (1790-1800)	Daughter?
					Daughter?

Moses Turner may have died before 1810, for I did not find him on that census in Marlboro or nearby. There was a younger Moses Turner listed there, but he was son of Thomas Turner (bef 1755), so probably a nephew of older Moses.

Children

Moses Turner and wife had quite a few children per the 1785, 1790 and 1800 census. I have not identified any of these children yet. I'll just list the census ages after each supposed child instead of giving them their own sections.
