Welcome to my Walley genealogy pages. I am interested in the Walley surname in Chester (now Delaware) Co., PA only. That area of interest may expand once I’ve learned more about my Walley ancestors. As of now I know very little.

Walley doesn’t rank in the top 1000 surnames in the United States. It’s a very rare one.

My most recent Walley ancestor is my nine times great grandmother, Lydia Walley, born ca 1670, probably in England. She married Robert Carter in 1688 in Chester (now Delaware) Co., PA. She died there before 1750, he ca 1751.

I don’t know who Lydia’s parents were. Her marriage was recorded in the Quaker records, so perhaps there is something on her parents in those records too, but I’ve found nothing so far, but haven’t researched it too heavily. There were Walley’s in Bucks Co. PA in the same period as Lydia’s marriage in Chester. Perhaps they are related. More research is needed.

As of now (January 13, 2025), I’ve barely researched the Walley family, so I have very little information on them.
