Welcome to my Wright genealogy pages. I am interested in the Wright surname in select counties in western North Carolina. My own ancestors were in Surry, Wilkes and Cherokee Counties. Some also briefly lived in Lincoln Co., KY and Union Co., GA. See list below for details about where I've researched.

What's New - Recent updates.
My Ancestry:
- Aaron Wright (c1770-1820s) and Mary Murphy (1771-aft 1850).
Aaron was possibly born in Surry Co., NC. His parents are unknown, but
it seems likely he's part of the Gideon and Hezekiah Wright families.
He married Mary in 1792 in Surry, and soon moved to Lincoln Co., KY.
They must not have liked it there for they were soon back to Surry Co.,
NC where he died in the 1820's. She remained there until the 1840's
when she went to Union Co., GA with some of her children. Aaron and
Mary were my 4th Great Grandparents.
- James S. Wright (1813-1902) and Caroline C. Winfrey (1822-1916).
James was born in Surry Co., NC and married Caroline there ca 1838.
They moved to Cherokee Co., NC in the 1840's where they remained until
their deaths. They were my 3rd Great Grandparents.
- Aaron Alexander Wright (1847-1907) and Annis Dulcenia Waters (1862-1918).
A. A. Wright, aka "El" Wright was a lifelong resident of Cherokee Co.,
NC. His wife was a native of neigboring Macon Co., NC. They were my
Great Great Grandparents.
- Della Christmas Wright (1896-1982) and Charles Noten George (1890-1952).
Della was born in Cherokee Co., NC. She was first married to Albert
Conley (1885-1914) who died on the job as a conducter on the train. She
married Noten George in 1918. They are my Great Grandparents. I knew
her. I was 16 when she passed.
