Welcome to my Cheek genealogy pages. I am interested in the Cheek surname in 1700s North Carolina.

My most recent Cheek ancestor is my six times great grandmother, Jane Cheek, born ca 1720s, perhaps in Virginia. She married Cornelius Tyson in the 1740s in Beaufort Co., NC. They soon moved to what was then Cumberland Co., NC. They lived there a few years until their section was cut off to form Moore County. That’s where they remained, along the Moore - Chatham County border, leaving records in both counties. Jane’s parents:

Richard Cheek was probably born in the 1690s. He and his wife Jane were in Beaufort Co., NC when he made his Will in 1743, dying there in 1745. I’ve seen online trees that show Richard Cheek was from Spotsylvania Co., VA, but I have not confirmed that myself.

As of now (February 13, 2023), I’ve barely researched the Cheek family, so I have very little information on them. More research is needed.
