I (Marty Grant) don't know I'm related to the David Collins family. I am sure he is somehow related to my ancestor Jonah Collins (c1774).

David Collins was born before 1765 (per 1810 census), possibly in SC, or perhaps in another state. I don't know who his parents might have been.

He was married to someone (name unknown) prior to 1790.

He was in the Marion County area prior to 1790. He was listed on the 1790 census in Georgetown District, Prince George Parish. Unfortunately this census was alphabetical, so we can't tell where he lived exactly or who his neighbors were.

1790 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census)

1790 Georgetown Dist, SC Prince George Parish pg 53 David Collins 2-1-3-0-0
Analysis:
2 Male(s) 16 and Up (before 1774)	David COLLINS (bef 1765)
					Son?
1 Male(s) under 16 (1774/1790)	Son?
3 Female(s) any age (before 1790)	Wife? (1765/84)
					Daughter?
					Daughter?

For some reason, David Collins did not appear on the 1800 census in Marion District.

However, he was back in time for the 1810 census. It is possible that this David Collins in 1810 is a different person from the one in 1790, but he seems old enough to be the same person. In 1810 David was not listed near any other Collins families.

1810 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census)

1810 Marion Dist, SC pg 85 David Collins 01001-20010
Analysis:
1 Male(s) 45 and up (bef 1765)	David COLLINS (bef 1765)
1 Male(s) 10-15 (1794-1800)	Son?
1 Female(s) 26-44 (1765-1784)	Wife? (1765/84)
2 Female(s) 0-9 (1800-1810)	Daughter?
					Daughter?

David Collins was not found in Marion for the 1820 census. He either moved away or died before that time.  The 1820 census index shows 21 "David Collins" entries in the United States. I have not checked any of them to see if they could be the same David. Those in New England are not likely suspects, leaving only 8 of those as likely suspects.

I found no land deeds for David Collins in Marion District, SC.
