I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to Elizabeth Collins. I am sure she is somehow related to my ancestor Jonah Collins (c1774).
Elizabeth Collins was born ca 1790/1800, probably in Georgetown District, (now Marion Co), SC.
I don't know if Elizabeth was born a Collins, or if she married one, and was widowed. The only record I have for her (so far) is the 1840 census, so I don't really have much to go on.
Based on the age of her apparent daughter (with her on the 1840 census), Elizabeth married a Mr. Collins before ca 1830. I have not found any record (or any clue) as to who Mr. Collins was.
Considering the age of her child (born ca 1825/30), Elizabeth's family should have been listed on the 1830 census. There were several Collins listings in Marion District in 1830, but all of them are accounted for, leaving no room for Elizabeth. One possible exception is Sally Collins listed in 1830 in the Free Colored columns. Although the name doesn't match, it could still be the same person, but I tend to think they are not one and the same.
For the 1840 census, Elizabeth Collins was listed as head of household, so she was apparently widowed by that time. She was not listed near any other Collins, but her next door neighbor was John Beverly, who in 1850 was next door to Shadrack Collins (1827), son of Jonah Collins (1774), so that may indicate she is related to that family. John Beverly married one of Jonah's daughters as his second wife.

Elizabeth Collins was not found in Marion for the 1850 census. She either moved away, remarried or died before that time.
Elizabeth Collins apparently had a daughter born ca 1825/30 with her in 1840. No other data is known.
