I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to William Abraham Cribb, but I'm quite sure I am related to him somehow.

William Abraham Cribb was born ca 1816/17 in North Carolina, presumably in Columbus County.

I don't know who Abraham Cribb's parents were. He named one of his sons "Anthony", so that probably means he is related to the other Marion County Cribbs.

Abraham Cribb would have been about 3 years old in 1820, so if listed on that census, he would have been in the "under 10" age group, (born ca 1810/20). In that year, Thomas Cribb in Columbus Co, NC had an apparent son that age. In neighboring Bladen County, Shadrick Cribb had two apparent sons in that age group. There were several Cribbs in nearby Georgetown Dist, SC with sons about this age as well.

In 1830, Abraham Cribb would have been about 13 years old, so if listed, he should be in the age 10-14 group (born ca 1815/20). I don't have the 1830 enumerations for Columbus County, but Thomas Cribb (1781) was listed there as was Anthony Cribb (1785).

Abraham Cribb married Viny A. --- between 1830 and ca 1839, either in Columbus Co, NC or in Marion Dist, SC.  Viny was born ca 1821/22 in NC (per 1850 census) or in SC (per 1860 and 1870 census).  I don't know her maiden name. Charles Cribb said that her maiden name was Soule. I don't know what the source is for that.

Abraham Cribb was listed on the 1840 census in Marion Dist, SC just 5 houses from Anthony Cribb (1785). He was between John W. Altman and George Carter.

By 1850, they were back in neighboring Columbus Co, NC. They were just two pages from William and Jane Cribb, probably cousins.

They were back in Marion Dist, SC in the 1850's.

Abraham Cribb died before 25 Mar 1858, for on that date an Administration Bond was granted to A. B. Jordan as administrator of the estate of Abraham Cribb, deceased. (Probate Roll # 1000, published in "Probate Records, Marion County, South Carolina Volume One", by Lucille Utley, Danny Smith, 1985, page 143).

Viny moved back to Columbus Co, NC before 1860, and was listed there on the 1860 census.

Viny was back in Marion for 1870 census, and residing with her married daughter Rebecca Richardson, in Brittons Neck Township.

I did not find Viny on the 1880 census, so she may have died, or remarried by then.

Children

Abraham and Viny had seven children per the 1850 through 1870 census. I don't have much additional data on any of them yet.
