!OBIT:MARION — Mr. Mitchell McRoy Turner, 65, husband of Tamara Tammy Turner, died
Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at his home after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Shiloh United Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Alvin Shifflett officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh
United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Florence, a son of Elizabeth Lib Byrd
Turner and the late McRoy Turner. He was a retired business owner. Mr. Turner
had served in the S.C. National Guard. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.
Mr. Turner was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Turner in addition to his wife of the home are his mother,
Elizabeth Lib Byrd Turner of Marion; his children, Rhonda Ridenour and her
husband, Thomas, of Alpharetta, Ga., Joan Hughes and her husband, Joseph, of
Lexington, Allison Christy and her husband, Christopher, of Trenton, Mitchell Alan
Turner and his wife, Amanda, of Aiken, Gary Michael Turner of Alpharetta,
Ga., and Tabitha Ray and her husband, Derric, of Marion; 10 grandchildren; a
sister, Judy Turner of Marion; three brothers, Buck Turner, Danny Ray Turner and
Grady Turner, all of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Turner was predeceased by a brother, Roy Turner.
Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 3913 W. Highway 76,
Marion, SC 29571.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Ernestine Tine
Harrell and Sue Sanders for their loving care.
