3. John STEWART m. abt 1760 Susanna Bledsoe a widow. She was the daughter of Frederick Fulkerson. John was probably the one who gave the name to Stewart Creek, west of Mount Airy.
Land: Mar 19, 1764 sold to William Robertson of Antrim parish, Halifax Co. VA., f60 current money of Virginia, 300 A, part of a greater quantity granted May 9, 1757 to Frederick Fulkerson, on east side of the middle fork of the Ararat River: witnesses to a receipt attached to this deed were Jacob Lash, esq., & David STEWART (5:445)
Oct. 26, 1765 sold to Henry Menadine 200 A, part of 500 A, granted May 9, 1757 by Granville to Frederick Fulkerson & conveyed by said Fulkerson to said Susanna Stewart in her widowhood under the name of Susanna Bledsoe (6:302).
Apr 18, 1771 grant of 300 A on a large branch of Stoney fork of Mallard Creek in Mecklenburg Co., & sold this tract Mar. 1, 1775 to WIlliam Alexander. (I:51). About this time they moved to Tenn. settling on a branch of the Holston river. Susanna had a son, Loring Bledsoe who was a soldier in the Revolutionary War with his half-brothers, David & William STEWART.

- 19 Dec 1832 made statement that he was 76 years old, thus born ca 1755/56.
- ca 1779 was a citizen of part of North Carolina, now Tennessee.
- States was 16 then (1779), which puts birth at ca 1762/63 contradicting age just given.
- While resident of same place, his brother David Stewart and half-brother Loving Bledsoe were drafted.
- Resided near Salibury about a year after Kings Mountain (1780), so ca 1781, before going back into service.
- Returned to "his uncle's in Surry County" due to illness. Uncle not named.
- Brother and Half brother dead by then (1832);
