Orpha Ann McClure Wright
Orpha Ann McClure Wright, 78, of Topton, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Valley View Care Center in Andrews.
Mrs. Wright was a native of Hendersonville, but lived most of her life in Cherokee County. She was a daughter of the late James Curtis and Orpha Luola Fore McClure.
She worked for many years as a garment inspector for the Lee Co. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Orpha was an active member of Red Marble Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Red Marble Trio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Wright; an infant brother, Junior; a brother, JD McClure, and his infant twin sister, Gladys; and sister Louise Ledbetter.
She is survived by two sons, David Wright and wife Margaret of Andrews, Kenny Corn and wife Monica of Topton; and a daughter, Karen Rogers and husband Larry of Marble; one brother, Bill McClure and wife Irene of Hendersonville; one sister, Carolyn McClure also of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren, Jason Rogers, Analisa Collins and husband Randy, Will Wright and wife Jessica, Cecile Hornok and husband David, Abigail Corn, Gracie Corn and Chloe Corn; two great grandchildren, Carden Collins and Adina Hornok; and three special friends, Shirley Payne, Wayne Rogers and Debbie Wood.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb.16, 2014, at the Red Marble Baptist Church in Topton. Pastor Mickey Stewart, Pastor Kenny Corn and Rev. Randy Collins officiated. Burial was in the Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Calvin Bobo and Ron McClure officiated the committal service. Pallbearers were Will Wright, David Hornok, Wayne Rogers, Doil Payne, Lanny Mason and John Kilpatrick.
The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Red Marble Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Orpha Ann Wright to the Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Postell, 1201 Red Marble Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
