William B Smith:
Notes:
!NOTES:Due to him being listed "out of order" in 1850 with William (Sr), it's possible he's a grandson of the elder William and not a son. William (Sr) did name a grandson William B. Smith in his 1866 will, and as this William had been with him since at least 1850, it stands to reason William c1843 is William B. Further, there is an older William B. Smith who is likely the son of William (Sr) and the uncle and namesake to this William B. Smith;

!NOTES:Seems to be dead before 1873 for his grandmother Henrietta was taxed for all 250 acres of the land William B. Smith Sr mentioned in his Will, half of which went to grandson William B. Smith. If William Jr died, it would have reverted to Henrietta, and that seems to be what happened, lacking a deed showing him selling it back to her.;

Mahala Davis
"Refused to swear" meaning she wouldn't name the father. However, it is quite possible one of the two bondsmen is the father, but that isn't proven. If true though, it was most likely William Smith Jr for he was her age and unmarried then.

!NOTES:His name isn't known. It is possible he is either W. R. Skipper or William Smith Jr, both of whom were bondsmen for the 1866 bastardy bond for Mahala Davis. William R. Skipper lived in the same region as the Davis family. There were several William Smiths, so I haven't tried to trace them too much. See below for more on both men.;
