I (Marty Grant) am not related to Bedford W. Hensley as far as I know.

This family used the "Henslee" spelling most often in North Carolina, though some records were with the "Hensley" or other spellings. See "Hensley Spellings" for a commentary on this subject.
Bedford W. Hensley was born ca 1808/09 (per 1850 census) in Caswell County, North Carolina.
Bedford is a son of Thomas Henslee and Lois Bush as proven by widow Lois living with Bedford in 1850. Her living with him isn't conclusive proof of her being his mother (could be Aunt instead), but it is strong circumstantially. Bedford does fit into this family based on census analysis and proximity.
Bedford would have been about 1 year old or less by the time of the 1810 census, so he should be enumerated in the "under 10" age group. Thomas Henslee did have one apparent son that age with him on that census in Caswell Co, NC.
By the 1820 census, Bedford would have been about 11 years old, so he should be enumerated in the 10-15 age group (born ca 1804/10). Thomas Henslee had an apparent son that age with him in Caswell County.
By the time of the 1830 census, Bedford would have been about 21 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 20-29 category (born ca 1800/10), and Thomas Henslee did have an apparent son that age with him in 1830 Caswell County.
On 12 Feb 1833, Bedford W. Henslee obtained a marriage bond in Caswell County to marry Lucinda Stamps. Lucinda was born ca 1807/08 in NC, presumably Caswell County. According to Cindy Stamps, Lucinda was a child of John Stamps and Nancy Slade.
Bedford was listed on the 1840 census in Caswell County. He had an "extra" older male with him, who I suspect was his brother Henderson Hensley, but of course I can't prove that is who it was.

Sometime in the late 1840's, Bedford and family and several siblings and their families, and Bedford's widowed mother, all moved west to Greene County, Missouri.
The 1850 census shows Bedford and family (including his widowed mother Lois, and unmarried sister Mary) residing in the household of Gabriel and Marina Freeman, relationship unknown. Bedford was listed as a landowner, but the Freemans were not, so it may be that they weren't actually in the same household, but the census taker numbered it wrong.

Lucinda Stamps Hensley apparently died in the 1850's, probably before ca 1856. Cindy Stamps gives 26 Dec 1850 as Lucinda's date of death.
Bedford Hensley married Permelia T. --- sometime in the late 1850's, perhaps before 1856, (if the child born around that date is hers). She was born ca 1820/21, in Tennessee. I don't know her maiden name. She may have been previously married, as several Clark children were with the family for the 1860 census which could be hers.
They were in Campbell Township of Greene County, Missouri for the 1860 census.

Bedford Hensley and Lucinda Stamps had at least three children per the various census records. I don't have much data on them yet. Bedford and second wife Permelia seemed to have 2 children together.
