Malinda Hensley was born ca 1839/40 per her age on the 1870 census (30) and the 1880 census (40). She was born in Virginia per the 1870 census, or North Carolina per the 1880 census.

I don't know if Malinda was born a Hensley or she was married to a Mr. Hensley who died before 1870. At present I have no clue who her husband may have been. It is possible she was married to one of the children of Mary "Polly" Hensley (c1795). If she isn't a Hensley by birth, then I don't know her maiden name.

Malinda is listed on the 1870 census in Grayson County in the poor house with an apparent son Henry age 6. The poor house contained 29 persons in all. I only transcribed the Hensleys.

Henry was listed on the 1880 census in Grayson with the Albert Rector family, relationship listed as "Boarder" so apparently not related. Malinda was just a few houses away with a daughter. Malinda had two new children at home, suggesting she was a single mother and not a widow.

Children of Malinda Hensley. The 1870 record shows only one apparent child Henry. In 1880 she had two very young children (Cynthia and Rosey) and an older daughter named Evaline Ward (c1859). Now I don't know where Evaline was for the 1860 and 1870 census, but I didn't find her listed. There was no one named Evaline or Ward with Malinda on the 1870 census in the poor house.
