I (Marty Grant) am not related to Simson W. Hensley as far as I know.
I'm not sure if this man's name is "Simson" or "Simuel", for I've seen it both ways on different records. Simson W. Hensley was born ca 1809/10 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee (per 1850 census), but I don't know what county.
I have no clue who Simson's parents might be. It seems reasonable that he might be a brother of John R. G. Hensley (c1814 TN) and James Hensley (c1824 TN) who were listed near Simson in 1850. And he might be a brother to Samuel G. Hensley (c1810 TN) who also lived in Crawford Co, AR. Since Simpson (or "Simuel") and Samuel were the same age, if they are brothers, then they could be twins, which would explain the similar names. However, that is just speculation.
Simson W. Hensley would probably have been home with his parents for the 1810 census, which was lost for all of Tennessee.
In 1820, he would probably have been home with his parents, but I have no idea if they were still in Tennessee, or in some other state by then.
Simson W. Hensley married someone (name unknown), before ca 1827, possibly in Illinois. I base this possible marriage location on their first known child being born in that state.
I did not find Simson W. Hensley on the 1830 census, though I suspect he was somewhere in Illinois, based on the birth places of his children.
Sometime between ca 1836 and 1839 Simson W. Hensley moved from Illinois to Crawford County, Arkansas.
"S. W. Hensley" was listed on the 1839 tax list in Crawford Co, AR.
He was listed on the 1840 census in Crawford Co, Arkansas, just two pages from possible brother Samuel G. Hensley (c1810). Simuel had two "extra" males with him, who might be brothers or other relatives.

Mrs. Hensley apparently died between 1840 and 1850, for she was not home with the family for the 1850 census.
Simson Hensley and family were listed on the 1850 census in Crawford County, Arkansas, about 15 houses from possible brothers John R. G. Hensley (c1814 TN) and James Hensley (c1824 TN).

I did not find any member of this family on the 1860 census. I don't know what happened to them.
Simson and wife had several apparent children per the 1840 and 1850 census. I have very little additional data on any of them yet.
