I (Marty Grant) am not related to Thomas H. Hinesley as far as I know.

This family often used the "Hinesley" or similar spelling. This probably suggests a connection to the Chatham Co, NC Hinesley family.

Thomas H. Hensley was born ca 1824/25 (per 1850 census) in Georgia (per 1850 census). If I have correctly identified his parents, then he was likely born in either Wilkinson or Henry County, Georgia.

It seems very likely that Thomas is a son of Alfred (or Alford) Hensley (c1794) and Nancy --- but I don't have solid proof for that, but Alfred did have an apparent son his age, and they were neighbors in Carroll County, Georgia.

For the 1830 census, Thomas would have been about 5 years old, so he should be enumerated in the either the 5-9 age group (born ca 1820/25) or the "under 5" category (born ca 1825/30). Alfred had two sons in the 5-9 age group with him in Henry Co, GA in 1830. One of them is probably Thomas.

Thomas would have been about 15 by the time of the 1840 census, so he should be enumerated in either the 15-19 age group (born ca 1820/25) or in the 10-14 age group (born ca 1825/30). Alfred Hensley had an apparent son in the 10-14 age group with him in Carroll Co, GA in 1840, possibly being Thomas.

Thomas H. Hensley married Elizabeth --- sometime just before ca 1847 in Carroll County, Georgia. Elizabeth was born ca 1827/28 in Georgia. I don't know her maiden name.

Thomas and family were on the 1850 census in Carroll County, Georgia, just three houses from possible brother John J. Hensley (c1823) and just 8 houses from his probable parents Alfred and Nancy.
