William J. Hensley (c1815) and Amanda Caroline --- of Carroll Co, GA

I (Marty Grant) am not related to William J. Hensley as far as I know.

This family also used the "Henslee" spelling.

William J. Hensley was born ca 1814/15 (per 1850 census) in Georgia (per 1850 census), probably in Franklin County.

It seems very likely that William is a son of Enoch Hensley and Amy Houston, but I don't have solid proof for that, but Enoch did have an apparent son his age, and William did name one of his sons "Enoch".

William Hensley would have been about 5 years old by the time of the 1820 census, so if listed he should be in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1810/20), but his father Enoch was in Franklin Co, GA that year, and that census is lost.

For the 1830 census, William would have been about 15 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 15-19 category (born ca 1810/15), and Enoch Hensley did have two apparent sons that age.

William did not seem to be home with his parents in 1840, nor was he listed as head of household.

William J. Hensley married Amanda Caroline --- before 1841 in Carroll Co, GA.  Caroline was born ca 1824/25 in Georgia. I don't know her maiden name.

William and family were on the 1850 census in Carroll County, Georgia, but not listed close to any of the other Hensleys.
