The author (Marty Grant) is not related to William B. Patterson as far as can be determined. William B. Patterson was born ca 1800/10 per his age on the 1830 census (20-29). I don't know who his parents are. The first record I have for William is his entry on the 1830 census in Habersham Co., GA. He is nine households from Drury D. Patterson (1800/10), perhaps closely related. 1830 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census) 1830 Habersham Co., GA page 35 Wm B. Patterson (1800/10) 1 male 0-4 (1825/1830) Son? 1 Female 20-29 (1800/1810) Wife 4 Slaves There is a William Patterson listed on the 1840 census in Habersham but that is William Patterson, son of Matthew Patterson, who married Sarah Davis there in 1834. William B. Patterson was not in Habersham in 1840. I found a William B. Patterson in Fayette Co., AL in 1840. He had slaves so that matches, but he was a little older and his wife a little younger than the family in 1830. He was just a couple of houses from a John Patterson (1750/60), perhaps his father. I don't think this is the same William from 1830 Habersham, but it could be. I tried to find William B. Patterson on the 1850 census, but had no luck. Too many men of that name who were age compatible, though none of them really seemed like probable matches to me anyway. |
Children of William B. Patterson. The 1830 census shows one apparent son born ca 1825/30. |
