Revision History: 3 Nov 2008 - Created by Marty Grant. |
Luke Watson was born before ca 1768 since he was
listed on the 1784 tax list, and had to be at least 16 to be
listed. I dont know who his parents were.
An undated deed (proven Nov 1784) shows that Richard Grantham sold Luke Watson 100 acres on the south side of Ashpole Swamp joining Edward Grantham. Witnesses were Moses Grantham and Richard Grantham. This land is clearly in what became Robeson County in 1786. (Bladen Co, NC Deed Book 1, page 38) Luke Watson was listed on the 1784 tax list in Bladen Co., NC with 100 acres, one white and no blacks. He was in Capt. Barnes district. Solomon Watson was listed in that district too, relationship unknown. Robeson County was formed from western Bladen in 1786. Luke Watson fell into that county, if he was still alive at the time. I didnt find anyone named Luke Watson on the 1790 census in North Carolina or elsewhere for that matter. Same for the 1800 census. |
Children of Luke Watson. Nothing is known of any children. |
